Two charged over Wickford shooting and stabbing

TWO PEOPLE have been charged in connection with the the killing of a Wickford man and an attack on his sister.

Hugh Doherty, 45, of Cranfield Park Avenue, died on Sunday, April 16, after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest.

His 35-year-old sister Esther suffered stab wounds on the same day and is currently recovering in hospital.

Levi Draper, 27, of Cranfield Park Avenue, has been charged with murder, attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

Harriett Crittendon, 25, also of Cranfield Park Avenue, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

They were due to make their first appearance at Basildon Magistrates Court this morning.
