A BENEFIT cheat social worker kept her job after 'bungling' council investigators failed to realise she was a council employee.
Redbridge Council's fraud squad investigated Shelly Brodie for wrongly claiming more than £3,500, not realising she worked as a team leader in the council's children's services department.
The mistake enabled her to move to a different council to collect a government wage.
The Taxpayers' Alliance slammed the 'bungled' investigation, saying it had been 'badly mismanaged'.
Brodie, who was this month struck off as a social worker, left Redbridge Council in 2011. The council's fraud squad began probing her housing benefit claims in 2010. ... read on
